Instructions

    • 1

Iron your sheet then spread it Inside out on your work surface.

    • 2

Cut any loose threads off the tear.

    • 3

Fold your fabric in half; this will make it easier to stitch.

    • 4

Sew two to three backstitches a little before the tear starts, then using an overstitch sew the tear from beginning to end.

    • 5

Knot the thread securely at the end of your stitches.

    • 6

Turn your sheet right side out and iron around the repair to ensure you like how it came out. If your stitches are not even, undo them and repeat Steps 4 and 5.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose a thread that matches your current bed sheet to hide repairs.

  • Backstitching requires doing one horizontal stitch then going over that same stitch again; start from the same entry point and bring the needle out of the same exit point. Do this on all your stitches when backstitching.

  • Overstitching consists of making diagonal vertical stitches over the edges of fabric with equal spacing and length. Be careful not to pull your stitches too tight or it will make the repair more obvious.
