How to Make Natural Element Good Luck Charms
In ancient Greece, the classical four elements -- earth, air, fire and water -- were believed to be the basic elements of all universal matter. We now know that they are not. But the four classical elements, along with the fifth element of "spirit," continue to be powerful symbols in many religions and belief systems. In some practices, such as Wicca, feng-shui and Native American spirituality, people surround themselves with and draw on these elemental energies for numerous reasons. Try tapping into the power of the elements yourself with a homemade good luck charm.

1
Take a piece of scrap fabric that doesn't unravel, such as felt or tulle. For best results, choose a color that you feel corresponds best to the kind of luck you desire. For example, choose pink for love or green for money.
-
2
Cut a circle from your scrap fabric, approximately 6 inches in diameter.
-
-
3
Place some seeds on the circle to represent the element of earth. The element of earth is associated with prosperity, strength and stability.
-
4
Place a small feather on the circle to represent the element of air. The element of air is associated with wisdom, knowledge and wit.
-
5
Place a small piece of volcanic rock, such as obsidian or pumice, on your circle to represent the element of fire. The element of fire is associated with creativity, passion and courage.
-
6
Place a small seashell or spoonful of sea salt on your fabric to represent the element of water. The element of water is associated with intuition, emotion and purification.
-
7
Place something personal on it, such as a coin that bears the year of your birth or a small clipping of your hair. This represents the element of spirit -- in this case, it represents you and links you to the other four.
-
8
Gather up the edges of the fabric and fashion it into a pouch. Tie it closed with twine, cord or yarn.
-
9
Hold your good luck charm and say a prayer over it for blessings. If you don't pray, just hold it and envision all of the elements full of positive energies you can draw on whenever you like.
-
10
Wear your good luck charm around your neck, on your key chain or in your pocket or purse.
