How to Make a Vase by Using Resources Wisely
By using resources wisely, you can make a pretty vase from a recycled container and scraps of paper. Child-sized yogurt drink containers or fast food milk containers make excellent bud vases. Jelly jars work nicely for small bouquets. Mayonnaise containers or Mason jars are perfect for larger floral bouquets. Decorate the vase with tissue paper, scrap craft paper or cuttings from magazines, such as flower pictures from gardening magazines. Decoupage glue seals and protects the colorful exterior of the recycled vase from water damage.

1
Remove any labels from the container. Clean the container with soap and hot water and let it dry.
-
2
Cut tissue paper and craft paper scraps into 1-inch-by-2-inch pieces for small vases, or make larger pieces for large vases. Cut around magazine pictures such as flowers. Set them aside.

3
Pour a small amount of decoupage glue into the bowl. Use the paint brush to apply decoupage glue to the outside of the container.
-
4
Dip each piece of thicker paper, such as craft paper and glossy magazine paper, into the decoupage glue and lay the pieces against the outside of the container. Apply thinner paper, such as tissue paper, directly to the wet glue on the outside of the container. Use your fingertips or the paint brush to smooth away wrinkles and squeeze out excess glue.
-
5
Apply a coat of decoupage glue to the entire outside of the container once it is covered with paper. Wipe the bottom of the container with a paper towel to remove any glue residue. Let the vase dry for about an hour or the amount of time indicated on the glue label.
