Share your Ustream broadcasts with your Facebook friends.

The online broadcasting site Ustream offers a free Facebook application that lets users show their broadcasts from a special tab on Facebook. The feature works on pages for celebrities, businesses and other entities but doesn't work on user profile pages. Ustream lets you customize your Ustream tab on Facebook, including options for using customized chat rooms and personalized layouts. After you configure the app, your broadcast appears on both the Ustream website and your Facebook page.

Instructions

      Navigate to Ustream.tv/facebook within your Facebook account. Click the black "Get It Now" button to visit the special Facebook page for the Ustream app.

      Click "Install Ustream App" on the Facebook page that opens. Click "Add Ustream Live" to finish adding Ustream to your Facebook account.

      Click the "Ustream Live" link on the left pane of your Facebook page, then click "Login With Your Ustream Account." Type your Ustream username and password on the pop-up message and click "Sign In."

      Click "Setup Your Ustream Tab" to change your stream's information and layout. Click the "Ustream Show" drop-down list, then select your show's name. To make a new show, click "Create Show." Type the show's name in the box that appears, then click "Create."

      Click the "Design" drop-down list to select a layout for your page, then select any additional options in the "Layout Options" section. To use a background or banner on your stream's page, click the "Choose File" button beside either of the fields, then select the image in the dialog box. Click the "Chat" drop-down list to select the type of chat room you want to use. Click "Save Changes" after you finish configuring your settings.

      Click the "Go Live" button to start broadcasting. Select your show's name on the prompt, then click "Next." Select a category for your show, if prompted, then click "Broadcast." This opens a separate window that prompts you for permission to use your camera and microphone. Click "Allow" on the Adobe Flash Player prompt, then click "Close."

      Click the red "Start Broadcast" button on the Ustream page to start the broadcast. When you want to stop broadcasting, click "Stop Broadcast."

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the "Invite Friends to Watch" button on your Ustream tab to invite Facebook friends to your broadcast. You can also click "Share" to post a link to your stream on your Facebook wall.
