1
Purchase 20-foot lengths of clear dryer hose from your local hardware store. Ferrets will tunnel through many different kinds of material, so cardboard tubes or shoe boxes taped together could work as well. The dryer tubes are a relatively inexpensive and safe option for constructing a ferret tunnel.
-
2
Tape the edges of the dryer hose. There is exposed wire that could harm the ferret on the end of dryer hose. Protect your pet by simply taping the ends of the tunnel.

3
Place the dryer hose lengths in a safe area of the house or yard where the ferret can explore on its own initiative. Watching the ferret play in the tunnels is a gratifying treat for any ferret owner.
-
4
Vary the lengths of pipe and placement to keep the ferret interested. Ferrets are intelligent creatures that constantly need new stimulation to keep them lively and happy.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid using paper towel or toilet paper tubes to construct a tunnel. While many materials are suitable for ferret tunnels, these are small enough that there is a danger of trapping or suffocating the animal when it tries to tunnel.
