Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of the area where you will be installing the insulation, and multiply the two together to get the total square footage of the entire area. This will determine how much vapor barrier and insulation will be needed for installation.

    • 2

Slide a tube of acoustical sealant into a caulk gun, and cut off the tip at a 45 degree angle with a utility knife. Line up the caulk gun at the first end of the steel arch and press the tip up firmly against the steel.

    • 3

Press the trigger and release a thin 1/4-inch bead of sealant along the steel framing. Continue over a small area, placing one bead every 6 inches, and set the caulk gun down. Roll out the plastic sheathing. This will act as a vapor barrier. Press it up firmly against the sealant. The sealant will hold it in place. Run it down along the entire steel framed wall.

    • 4

Add more sealant over the next area, and roll out the plastic sheathing. Continue in the same manner over all of the steel studs until they are covered in the vapor barrier. Overlap the rows by 4 inches, so they are properly sealed.

    • 5

Roll out the insulation and place it between the studs. Add double-sided carpet tape to the studs and against the insulation. Place a piece of tape every 8 inches up each stud and into the arch of the building. Press the insulation up against the double-sided tape, and continue in the same manner around the entire building until the arch and walls are complete.
