How to Sew Up a Stocking Cap Seam
Sewing a seam on a stocking cap is the most essential part of the stocking cap assembly. From a simple piece of fabric, fleece or knitted material, you can create a stocking cap with just one seam. No matter which material you choose for your stocking cap, a well constructed seam makes the difference between a well fitting cap and a poor fitting one. There are several decorative options for the stocking cap, once you have assembled it.

1
Cut a piece of fabric, 13 inches by the width of your head plus 1/2 inch.
-
2
Holding what will eventually be the patterned or outward-facing sides together, sew the long sides of the hat together, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.
-
-
3
Turn the corner on the hat and sew the adjacent short end shut, still with a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Do not cut the thread or break the seam, making one continuous seam. Your hat will now be closed on three sides, leaving an opening for your head.

4
Turn the hat right side out.
