How to Maintain Wave Hairstyles Overnight
Maintaining strong, healthy waves overnight can be a headache if you do not have the proper techniques. Wave caps, which are used to control wave patterns in the hair, are often used to enhance and maintain the appearance of wavy hairstyles. Most wave caps are made of silk, which causes no static friction to your hair and locks in the moisture, whereas stocking caps, du-rags and hairnets can be used for longer hair. Wave caps are strongly recommended for shorter hairstyles. Does this Spark an idea?

Wave Cap and Du-rags
-
1
Style the waves by brushing your hair in the pattern you wish to achieve. Start from the center of your head and press firmly on the brush to achieve a deeper wave pattern.
-
2
Place the wave cap on your head by sliding the elastic down on both sides of the cap. Stretch out the wave cap before you place it on your head if it is too tight. Place the du-rag on with the inside lining against your waves. Wrap the left string across the right string in the back and pull the du-rag flap down in the back as you tie the knot.

3
Pull the cap down until it covers your hair in the front and back or tighten the strings on the du-rag to prevent it from slipping off during the night.
Stocking and Satin Caps
-
4
Brush the hair in the selected hairstyle. Allow the hair to dry, if wet, before placing on the satin cap. Roll your hair with rollers if you are using a satin cap; satin caps work better to protect longer hairstyles overnight.
-
5
Place the stocking cap on by stretching the elastic band until you have enough room. The cap will stretch after placing it on your head.
-
6
Adjust the sides of the stocking cap by pulling it until you achieve a comfortable fit.
