How to Measure an Oval Tablecloth
Deciding on the size of an oval tablecloth is more tricky than doing the same for a square and circular tablecloth. If you are shopping for a tablecloth and want to be sure something that catches your eye at the store will fit, measure your table and the tablecloth before buying. Remember that the dimensions of oval tables can vary, so knowing the proportions and shape of your particular table is key to getting the perfect table covering. Does this Spark an idea?

Measure perpendicularly to the widest point. This is the tablecloth's width. The tablecloth should be equal to the width of your table plus the drop you want on both sides.

Measure the length of the curved portion of the tablecloth on one end by guiding your flexible measuring tape around the curve. This is the diameter of the tablecloth, and should be equal to the diameter of your table.

Tips & Warnings
If you do not have a fabric measuring tape, align a string with the curve of the tablecloth and measure the length of the string.
Your tablecloth's drop can be any length, but keep in mind how it will be used. If people will have their knees under the tablecloth, opt for something with just a few inches of overhang.
