How to Make Any Kind of Friendship Bracelet
Creativity and artistic expression plays an integral role in the development of children. Encouraging a child to create art -- from drawing to performing -- can help to enhance his life skills. According to MaryAnn F. Kohl, an award winning art author, educator and publisher, art activities assist in the development of communication, problem-solving and fine motor, social and emotional skills. Add friendship bracelet-making to your family's art repertoire for a tangible expression of camaraderie among family members, friends and anyone else to whom your child wants to give a friendship bracelet.

1
Cut three different colors of string to 2 feet long. Cut through all three strings simultaneously to avoid uneven strands.
-
2
Measure to 1 1/2 inch from one end of each string, and tie a knot with all three strings at that location. Keep the three strings aligned evenly.
-
-
3
Tape the strings above the knot to a smooth surface such as a table or counter top. Taping the strings keeps them stable while you work on the bracelet.
-
4
Cross the far left string over the string on the right, making the two strings resemble the shape of the number four. Pull the first string through the four's opening, looping it through the second string. Pull it tight against the knot at the top of the strings to secure it in place.
-
5
Repeat the cross over, loop and pull procedure until you reach the end of the first string.
-
6
Repeat the cross over, loop and pull procedure for each other color of string one at a time. Do not switch to the third color of string until you finish crossing over, looping and pulling all of the second color of string.
-
7
Tie both ends of the bracelet together.
