You can get more eyes on your resume by posting it on Craigslist.

The online classified site Craigslist has a section specifically designated for posting resumes and attracting prospective employers seeking professionals with specific skill sets. When posting a resume on Craigslist, it's important to keep it brief, simply formatted and void of confidential information.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Post to classifieds" in the upper-left corner of the screen to create your free Craigslist listing.

    • 2

Click the radio button next to "Resume/job wanted" in the options menu. This is where your resume will be available on the Craigslist website.

    • 3

Create a posting title for your resume that is an accurate reflection of the job you're seeking and the skills you possess. Some effective posting titles include "Experienced top-selling sales representative" or "Innovative Web Marketing Guru." Because prospective employers won't have an opportunity to view your resume without clicking the posting title, it's important that the title is as attention-grabbing as possible.

    • 4

Type your location into the designated box. This should be the location where you're interested in employment -- whether it be a specific city or regional area.

    • 5

Copy and paste your resume into the Posting Description of your Craigslist ad.To protect your privacy, exclude your address, phone number and email address. Craigslist will provide a safe email address that will forward to your personal email address. Depending on the nature of the job you seek, and whether or not you're currently employed, you may also want to exclude your name in the posting.

    • 6

Fix the formatting in your resume so that it looks as neat and clean as possible. Eliminate tab spacings and keep the beginning of each line flush with the left margin of the page to ensure that your resume publishes easily.

    • 7

Preview your posting to confirm that you're happy with the way it's formatted on the page. Make changes as necessary before you publish it.
