How to Fix OV010MV Headphones
OV010MV headphones are stereo headphones with a microphone. They are primarily used for video and VoIP calls via the computer. The most common issue with this model is that the connection to the headset from the wire can become loose. This can occur from yanking the wire or accidentally putting strain on it. Most people throw out the headphones if this occurs, as the audio quality is reduced or nonexistent. However, a simple repair job can have your OV010MV headphones functioning like new.
Instructions
-
-
1
Locate the connection point where the wires meet the headset. There will be a plastic protective cover around the wire.
-
2
Cut the protective cover. This will expose the actual connection from the wires to the headset.
-
-
3
Examine the connection. The wires may look stretched, be ripped or be completely severed. Each wire should have a connection point. Even if the connection if severed completely, old bits of wire should still be stuck onto the point. This will help you determine which wire goes with which connection point.
-
4
Cut the wire using a wire stripper. Strip the wires so that two fresh connections can be made. Strip about 1/3 inch.
-
5
Hold the wire to the connection terminal.
-
6
Apply solder to the solder gun. Then solder the connection carefully.
-
7
Repeat this process with the second and third wires.
-
8
Seal off the connection with electrical tape.
-
9
Test the system.
