AirPlay can transfer content from the iTunes application to an Apple TV.

AirPlay is a network protocol created by Apple to allow Mac, iPhone and Apple TV users to stream content from one device to another. When you connect multiple Apple devices to the same local wireless network, each one automatically enables the AirPlay service and starts communicating with the others. For example, you could use AirPlay to stream music or video from your Mac computer to an Apple TV that is connected to your television.
