How to Fertilize Sawtooth Acorn Trees

Spread 1 cup of 10-10-10 granular fertilizer in the bottom of the planting hole when you first plant the sawtooth oak. Cover the fertilizer with 2 inches of soil so it does not touch the roots of the acorn or seedling.

Apply the 10-10-10 granular fertilizer to the soil around the sawtooth oak in the spring. Do not let the fertilizer touch the trunk of the tree. Follow the directions on the package for how much fertilizer to use as this will vary with the size of the tree and the brand of fertilizer.

Water the fertilizer into the soil with a garden hose until it is dissolved. Repeat the fertilization once a year, in the spring.
