1
Conduct a monitor self-test to determine if it is working properly. Turn off the monitor and computer, and unplug the blue video cable from its slot on the back of the monitor. Turn the monitor back on. You should see the "Self-Test Feature Check" floating on the screen, which means the monitor is working properly and the problem you're having is with the computer. If you do not see this image, continue to troubleshoot the monitor.

2
Turn off the monitor and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait several minutes before plugging the power cord back in and turning on the monitor.

3
Make sure the video cable is securely plugged into the connection on the back of the monitor and the video port on your computer. The computer will not be able to communicate with the monitor if this cable is not connected properly.
-
4
Adjust the brightness and contrast, using the buttons on the front of the monitor, to fix the display if it appears too dark or too bright. Press the "Auto Adjust" button to let the monitor reset the display and automatically adjust the brightness, contrast and focus.
-
5
Check that the temperature of the room where the monitor is located is between 41 degrees Fahrenheit and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Excessive heat or cold temperatures can cause problems with the liquid crystal in the monitor. Adjust the temperature or move the monitor to another room, if necessary.
