How to Harvest Wooden Apples thumbnail
Keep an eye out for wooden apples if you are picking in Vermont.

Wooden apples might not grow on trees; but if you find one, consider yourself lucky. In Vermont, picking a wooden apple from a tree makes you the winner of an Apple iPod. This is a contest held by the Vermont Tourism Bureau to increase interest in visiting the 24 pick-your-own apple orchards across the state. This annual contest is open to everyone except employees and family members of the sponsors, but the fun will be over by the end of apple harvest season in October so plan your vacation and get picking. Does this Spark an idea?
