You can alter your coarse or curly hair by applying a hair texturizer. Luster's S-Curl texturizer is made for men who want to change the appearance and feel of their hair. It is made up of chemicals that loosen the curl pattern of the hair. The S-Curl is sold as a kit, with the accompanying products needed for maintenance after the application. The intended result is wavy, smooth hair that is easier to manage.

Wash your hair if it has a buildup of oil or hair products, then allow it to dry and wait 24 hours before applying the S-Curl.

Rub a protective gel around your hairline to prevent irritation or chemical burns on the skin, then put on the disposable gloves.

Scoop the S-Curl texturizer cream from the container, using the end of a medium-sized tooth comb. Slather the cream on your hair, starting at the curliest or most resistant area. Continue the process until all of your hair is covered.

Comb the product through your hair, in the direction of your usual style. Set the timer for 10 to 15 minutes. Evaluate the texture of your hair when time is up. Add processing time if your hair has not achieved the intended "S" pattern.

Rinse the texturizer from your hair with warm water. Don't let the dirty water enter your ears or eyes.

Wash your hair using the shampoo from the kit. It is designed to produce pink bubbles if any texturizing cream remains in your hair. Continue washing your hair until the suds turn white. Then rinse with warm water until the water runs clear.

Blot your hair with a towel to remove extra water. Don't allow your hair to dry completely.

Saturate your hair with the spray from the kit and rub it in. For a curly style, gently lift the ends of your hair with a comb or pick. For a wavy style, comb your hair into the style you want, using a small-toothed comb.

Tip

Use products meant to keep your S-Curl texturizer moisturized.

Warning

Don't allow the chemical to remain on your hair longer than 35 minutes. Don't apply the S-Curl to hair that is chemically treated or damaged. If your scalp is irritated or has cuts or scabs, don't use the product.
