How to Date in Dreamweaver

When a user is viewing a Web page, he often wants to know if the information is current or outdated. You can help your readers determine how current your content is by inserting the date that the page was created or last saved. Adobe Dreamweaver allows you to quickly insert a date stamp on any Web page and you can format it in a variety of ways, including adding the day and time.

Instructions

      Open your document in Dreamweaver and click on the location in the document where you want to insert the date.

      Click the "Insert" menu and select "Date." The Insert Date dialog box opens.

      Select a day format from the "Day Format" pull-down menu. If you don't want the day to appear, select "No Day."

      Select a date format from the "Date Format" list box.

      Select a time format from the "Time Format" pull-down menu. If you don't want the time to appear, select "No Time."

      Click "OK" to close the dialog box and insert the date in the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click the check box labeled "Update Automatically on Save" on the Insert Date dialog box to have the date updated when the document is saved.

  • Insert the date on the template you are using to have it appear on every page. With the date inserted in the template, you don't have to manually insert it in every page.
