Turmeric is a common spice used in Indian cuisine.

Vinyl is a common material for flooring in bathrooms and kitchens because the floor is relatively water and stain resistant. Some products, however, can cause stains if you leave them on the vinyl floor for too long. This includes turmeric, which is a powdered spice that, when wet, can leave bright orange marks on the floor. Turmeric is so strong that it is commonly used as orange dye. This is especially troublesome if you have light-colored floors.

Step 4

Rub the cloth over the turmeric stains until they are gone. Work from the edges of the stain toward the center to remove it without spreading it.

Step 5

Mix 1 cup warm water with 2 drops mild liquid dish soap if the stain is still visible. Use soap that doesn't contain bleach or fragrances.

Step 6

Rub the soapy water over the stain until it is gone.

Step 7

Blot rubbing alcohol directly on the stain if you can still see it. Work until the stain is gone and use as little rubbing alcohol as possible.

Step 8

Rinse the area with a solution of one part water to one part white vinegar. The white vinegar will help remove the soap residue and will neutralize the turmeric smell from the floor.

Step 9

Dry the area with clean cloths.
