How to Hide Cords for Lamps When Decorating
Lamps provide both decorative and useful purposes in a room. However, a visible lamp cord running across the width of a table can ruin an otherwise flawless area of decor. Depending on the layout and lamp positioning, there are ways to hide the cord from view to improve the appearance of the area around the lamp. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place furniture that will hold the lamps as close to the outlet as possible so the cord doesn't have to span a large area.
-
2
Position the lamp as close as possible to the back edge of a solid piece of furniture, such as a nightstand or dresser. Dangle the cord behind the furniture so it's hidden by the furniture.

3
Use decorating clips to hide the lamp cord in cases where you don't have a solid piece of furniture, such as a breakfront table with no back. Install the clips at even intervals along the furniture back and legs. Place the lamp on top and route the cord through the clips. This hides it from view and keeps it from dangling downward in the back of the furniture.
-
4
Run a lamp cord under an area rug in cases where it must go across a large area to reach an outlet. Tuck it under the edge to get it out of the way and to eliminate a tripping hazard.
-
5
Run a floor lamp cord through a plastic cord cover. Install the cord cover along the baseboard or wall from the lamp to the outlet. Purchase a cord cover that blends with the baseboard or wall, or paint it to match.
