"Grand Theft Auto IV" is part of a series of action video games that casts players as terrors of Liberty City, making crime flourish in the player's presence. As the protagonist Niko gains status in the city, his living arrangements improve and he earns an expensive penthouse condo. If you're playing "Grand Theft Auto IV" and you want to begin your reign of terror immediately on the streets of the city, it is helpful to simply start a new game.

Launch your console and put the "Grand Theft Auto IV" game disc in the disc drive. Wait for the opening credits to play through.

Press the "Start" button on your controller to load the pause menu, which is on the "Map" tab. Other tabs are accessed by pressing to the left or right on the left thumb stick.

Scroll to the right until you reach a menu with online two options, "New Game" and "Load Game."

Click the "New Game" option to begin a new game, in which Niko starts on the street near the docks. Press "Start" during the intro scene to skip it.
