Diwali Diyas are handcrafted, ceramic candle holders. Many are made of terracotta and crafted in rural India. They are representative of the Diwali, or Festival of Lights and Sweetness. It is a symbol of the victory of good over evil, truth over falsity and brightness over darkness. Diya means small earthern lamp. It is lit for decorative and pujan purposes.       Choose diwali diyas that compliment your decor. They are available in traditional designs, modern designs, pedestal designs and even seasonal designs, such as snowflakes. The lamps may be decorated with mirror-work or Jaris, or adorned with fragrant dried flowers.

      Decorate with a diwali diya containing a spout-like shape along the lip of the candle holder. This is modeled after a traditional Indian Diya lamp. This lamp was used in celebrations such as Diwali. Typically, there is one spout but there can be as many as 21.

      Put tea-light candles in each diwali diya. While the traditional lamps use a cotton wick, with oil or ghee as the burning fuel, other diwali diyas are created to hold a tea candle.
