Instructions

    • 1

Scrub the tub using lacquer thinner and course steel wool. Dip the wool in the lacquer thinner and rub the tub's surface in 1-foot-square sections. Wipe away the thinner with a clean cloth and move to the next section.

    • 2

Wash the tub and dry it thoroughly. Use a vacuum to suck up any remaining particles.

    • 3

Protect the surrounding surfaces with painter's tape and plastic.

    • 4

Spray an appliance epoxy paint onto the tub surface until it is heavily coated. Clean up any messes with lacquer thinner. Remove the plastic and painter's tape.

    • 5

Let the paint cure for five days before using the tub.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the tub was previously painted, you need to peel off the old paint before starting.

  • Always wear a mask and gloves when painting bathtubs. Bathrooms do not have sufficient ventilation and you will be leaning over the tub, which traps fumes.
