How to Make a Ghost Yoda

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away -- or the 1970s, as most people call it -- the "Star Wars" saga begun. Yoda, the powerful jedi master, might have been absent from the original film, but he appeared in the remaining five and became one of the most popular characters in this movie series. His defining characteristic is his strange syntax. He often arranges his words in an unnatural order. Yoda appears as a ghost in "Return of the Jedi," looking like a blue version of himself. As the jedi master himself might say: make a ghost Yoda, easy it is.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw Yoda onto a piece of A4 paper. This should be as large as you want the doll to be. Copy from an image if you need to. If you draw it free hand, make sure his ears are large, pointed and almost horizontal. He should also have three fingers on each hand.

    • 2

      Cut out the yoda outline.

    • 3

Place the cut-out on top of pieces of blue felt and cut around it. You will now have two blue felt yoda outlines.

    • 4

Position the original cutout onto a piece of light blue felt and draw around the design. Draw a second outline around the first, adding an extra 1 centimeter to every side. Cut around the second outline.

    • 5

Place the light blue felt shape you just cut out onto a second piece of light blue felt. Cut around it to duplicate it.

    • 6

Place the blue felt outlines on top of each other and align the edges. Stick pins in to hold them together.

    • 7

Sew the felt together along the edges but leave a gap at the top and bottom so you can add stuffing to the doll.

    • 8

Stuff the doll with pillow stuffing. You can use a pencil to push the stuffing into awkward places.

    • 9

Sew the sections that you missed earlier once the doll is completely stuffed.

    • 10

Glue a pair of googley eyes to the doll's face.

    • 11

Cut a nose and mouth from black a piece of black felt. Glue these pieces to yoda's face.

    • 12

Cut off the head, hands and feet from the light blue set of felt outlines. You now have the back on front of yoda's robe.

    • 13

Fit the robe around yoda's body and sew the back of the robe to the front.

    • 14

Cut out a small triangle from dark blue felt. This will act as Yoda's tunic underneath his robe. Glue this underneath the doll's head, on the front side.
