How to Hide the Knot After Casting Off
When a knitting project is finished you are left with dangling ends of yarn at both the beginning and end of the piece. These can be weaved back in in a secure and lasting way. Many knitters begin a project with a knot, but this is not necessary for most projects as the knot can show in the finished item. It might be necessary to untie the knot before weaving in the ends.

1
Untie the knot at the beginning of the project, if possible. Use your yarn needle to gently pry the knot loose. If you cannot untie the knot it is still possible to weave the ends in, but the end result will look smoother if you are able to untie the knot first.

2
Thread one of the loose strands through the eye of your yarn needle. Yarn needles are larger than most needles and have a large eye that the yarn can pass through. They can be found at hobby, craft and sewing stores.

3
Insert the needle into the knitted piece near the edge. Snake it under a piece of yarn and back up, as if you were sewing by hand. Follow the pattern of the knitted piece with the yarn needle and yarn. Make five stitches in this manner.

4
Switch direction and weave the yarn back to your starting point, making five stitches in this direction. Unthread the needle and cut off any loose ends with scissors. Repeat with any other ends that remain dangling from the project.
