Instructions

Create a slipknot with one strand of tinsel. Do this by folding the tinsel strand in half and creating a loop at the top. Grip 3 inches down and pull the tail end through the loop loosely. The loop should be open 2 inches and big enough for your hair to slide through after pulling the tail through.

Grab about two or three strands of your own hair and slide the slipknot tinsel down to the roots. This should be loosely wrapped around the strand of your hair and touch the scalp. Be creative and use as many colors as you like in any placement as they are meant to look like highlights. It's best to only place them on the top layer of the hair and add a few peek-a-boo strands underneath the top layer. This will make them easier to see and not get lost in a sea of hair.

Begin on either side of the hair near the bangs and grip the tail ends of the tinsel strand and tighten the knot at the roots. Grab the strand of hair the tinsel is knotted to and tie it together with the tinsel to create a simple square knot. This is similar to tying shoelaces. Pull tightly in opposite directions to secure. Repeat all over head moving through the top layer with as many tinsel strands as desired.
