How to Troubleshoot an NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS Multiple Display

Multiple display setups can provide users with a more robust computer desktop area. Users can run multiple programs side-by-side and in full-screen, which can make complex projects a great deal more manageable. NVIDIA's GeForce 8400 GS includes support for multiple display setups. But if you can't get your GeForce 8400 to recognize all of the displays in your setup, there are some measures you can take to resolve the issue.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on a blank area of your desktop then select the "NVIDIA Control Panel" option from the content menu that pops up.

    • 2

Select the "About NVIDIA Control Panel" option from the "Help" heading to check your version of the NVIDIA Control Panel. If your version is out of date, download and install the most recent version of the utility.

    • 3

Expand the "Display" heading in the control panel, click on the "+" next to the heading then select the "Set Up Multiple Displays" sub-option.

    • 4

Click on the "My Display Is Not Shown" option then select the "Rigorous Display Detection" option from the Detect Missing Display menu.

    • 5

Check the box next to the display if it turns off in the detection results. Recheck your hardware connections if your second display isn't found. Also, try reinstalling any drivers associated with your secondary display.
