How to Make a Canopy That Hangs From the Ceiling
A canopy that hangs from the ceiling creates an easy way to position thin curtains around a bed, chair or area of a room. Making a simple ceiling canopy is not hard at all, and you can use standard objects to make your project even easier and less expensive. Look for fabric sales and coupons for your favorite fabric store to find the fabric you need at a good price. Or you can repurpose old sheers and long-lace curtains. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Dust off an outdoor plant hanger shaped like a ring with small chains attached to an S-hook. Hang the hanger outside and spray-paint it white. This may take several coats of spray paint. Allow each coat of paint per the manufacturer's recommendation.

2
Thread a sheer fabric curtain panel under the side edge of the plant hanger ring and through the center. Wrap the top edge of the curtain over the circle part of the hanger and pin the fabric to itself.

3
Sew the fabric directly to the hanger. Slide the fabric to the back and line up a few inches and sew. Continue adding as many sheer panels as you can to the hanger ring. The chains and hook should be on the top of the sheers.
-
4
Hang your canopy from the S-hook by hooking the hook through any ceiling screw eye.

Tips & Warnings
For a no-sew version, tie the top of sheers or sheer fabric to the ring instead of sewing. Leave eight inches beyond your knot, and gather all the ends together when you are done to form a crown shape. Tie the ends with a ribbon or scrunchy.
