Reconfigure your diet to include foods and nutrients that promote hair growth. Foods that are high in protein or choline, such as meats and cottage cheese promote faster hair growth as do foods that contain amino acids like poultry, fish and eggs. Taking Vitamin B pills or consuming foods and drinks high in B vitamins will also help your hair grow faster.

Brush your hair and scalp with a scalp brush once a day. Be gentle, but get thorough in your brushing. Brush over the entire head. In addition, you can massage your scalp with your fingertips at least once a day, such as in the shower when applying shampoo. Brushing and massaging the scalp helps increase the blood circulation to that area, thus bringing more blood and nutrients to the growth center of the hair.

Trim off split ends regularly. Depending on how fast your hair grows you should get your hair trimmed every 6 to 12 weeks, even if you're trying to grow it out. Split ends can slow down and stop hair growth as the hair continues to split and break off.

Don't use shampoos, conditioners and other hair care products that can be harsh on your hair. Avoid the use of perms, harsh dyes, relaxers or any other product that contains alcohol and other harsh chemicals. Don't wash your hair daily and use mild shampoos and styling products that are made with natural ingredients. Avoid the use of curling irons, straight irons and other items that can burn your hair and damage it further.
