How to Make Earrings With Magnet Backs
Earrings with magnet backs use the power of magnetism to stay fixed on the earlobe. As long as the decorative front piece and the magnet back are compatible magnets -- they are attracted to each other -- the earrings stay in place. Children and even adults who don't want to go through the painful piercing process can decorate their ears with homemade earrings with magnet backs.

1
Choose a pair of matching ornaments, which will be the front part of the earring. Look for ornaments that are very light and have a flat back. If the ornament is too heavy, the magnet won't hold it up.
-
2
Put a dot of hot glue onto one side of a magnet and press the back of one ornament into the glue. Hold it there for a minute, then set it aside to dry. Repeat with a second magnet and the matching ornament. Your magnets should be small enough so that they are not seen when looking at the front of the ornament.

Place the piece with the ornament on the front of the earlobe and line up a plain magnet on the back of the ear. The magnets should hold each other up on either side of the earlobe.

Tips & Warnings
Experiment with the decorations on the front of the earring. You can use buttons, charms, tiny satin bows, small coins or even jellybeans that have been sealed with a layer of shellack.
An extra-strong glue can be used instead of hot glue.
Supervise children if using a hot gun to create your magnetic earrings.
