Complete the business license application by providing your name, Social Security number, federal employer identification number (FEIN), address, business telephone, residential telephone, fax number, and the sector in which your business is trading.

Check the category that states whether your business is an individual business, partnership or corporation.

Contact the zoning department in King George to obtain the tax map number and parcel number of the primary location of your business. Tell the department the date your business is slated to begin or the date that it began; information is required before the application can be used to transfer a business license from one owner to another.

Describe the nature of your business. For example, if you sell bridal gowns, you would state that you''re in the bridal sales industry. If you're opening a tax consultancy, state that you are a professional. If you're unsure of the category, call the Commissioner of Revenue office.

Insert the name of the transferer of the business, if applicable. Sign and date the application. Include a $25 check payable to the Commissioner of Revenue, the fee for a business license as of 2011. Mail the application and your check to the Commissioner of Revenue's office by taking it in person or mailing to: Commissioner of the Revenue, 10459 Courthouse Dr. Suite 101, King George, VA 22485-3862. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
