If the AWZ Kindle file is encrypted, it cannot be converted to any other format.

The Kindle is an e-book reader device designed and sold by Amazon.com, which is compatible with a variety of formats, and primarily the AWZ and MOBI type of e-book files. Sony's E-Reader device is also compatible with different types of e-book files, but not the AWZ and MOBI formats favored by the Kindle. The E-Reader's e-book format of choice is ePub, and you can convert your Kindle e-Books into ePub files using free online conversion tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your computer's Web browser by clicking its icon on the desktop.

    • 2

Navigate to a free online e-book conversion tool such as 2epub, Online-Convert or Epub2go.

    • 3

Click the "Choose File" or "Browse" button, depending on the conversion tool you are using, and locate the Kindle file you want to convert on your computer. Click the "Open" button to upload the e-book file to the online conversion tool.

    • 4

Click the "Convert File" button, and the online conversion tool will begin processing the uploaded Kindle e-book file.

    • 5

Choose a location to save the converted ePub file on your computer when prompted by the online conversion tool. Click the "Save" button, and the converted Kindle file can now be added to your Sony E-Reader's library.

Tips & Warnings

  • The online conversion tool will automatically give the new ePub file the same name as the original Kindle e-book, which you can change during saving if required.

  • Do not close the browser window while the file is being converted, or the online conversion tool will be unable to prompt you to save the new ePub file.

  • Conversion times can be extended if the original Kindle file is large or complex.
