How to Crochet Pink Ribbon Shawls
A crocheted pink ribbon shawl or scarf is sometimes made to increase breast cancer awareness or honor loved ones who have suffered from the cancer. To make the ribbon shawl, you will only need to know four basic stitches: Chain (CH), double crochet (DC), single crochet (SC) and slip stitch (SL ST). The shawl will measure approximately 14 inches by 16 inches long, covering the shoulders and ending at the waist.

1
CH 66 for the first half. To create a single chain, simply yarn over (YO) and pull the thread through the loop.
-
2
SC in 2nd CH by inserting the hook in the second stitch. Then, YO and pull back through the chain stick. YO again and pull the yarn through the two loops you just created. Repeat CH 4. Skip (SK) next 3 CH, (SC, CH 3, 2 DC) in next CH, SK next 3 CH, SC in next CH; repeat from across and turn. To DC, YO and stick your hook through the required CH stitch. YO and pull through, then YO and pull through the first two loops on the needle. You have completed the first row.

3
CH 5 (counts as DC, CH 2), (SC, CH 3, 2 DC) in next CH-3 space. Put your hook in the space, rather than the stitch. SC in next CH-4 space (SP), repeat CH 4, (SC, CH 3, 2 DC) in next CH-3 SP, SC in next CH-4 SP; repeat from across to last SC, CH 2, DC in last SC and turn. You have completed the second row.
-
4
CH 1, SC in first DC, repeat CH 4, (SC, CH 3, 2 DC) in next CH-3 SP, SC in next CH-4 SP; repeat from across and turn. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your piece measures about 30 inches from the beginning. You will end at row three, having completed the third row.
-
5
CH 1, SC in first 3 stitches (STS), repeat SC in next CH-3 SP. Triple crochet (TC) in next CH-4 SP, [CH 1, TC in same CH-4 SP] 4 times by YO twice and then putting the hook into the fifth stitch. YO again and put it through the first two loops on the hook. Repeat this process until all the loops are off the hook to finish the TC. Repeat from across to last SC, SC in last SC and turn. This will be row one of your edging.
-
6
CH 1, SC in first 2 STS, repeat CH 3, SL ST in SC just made (picot made). To SL ST, insert your hook through the stitch with the loop on your hook. YO and pull the loop through both the stitch and the loop on your hook. Repeat [SC in next CH-1 SP, SC in next TC, picot] four times, SC in next 2 STS; repeat from across to last 2 STS; leave last 2 STS unworked. When finished, fasten off. You have now completed row two of your edging.
-
7
Join yarn with SL ST in first CH (at base of first SC), working along opposite side of foundation CH facing the wrong side (WS). Repeat CH 4, SK next 3 CH, (SC, CH 3, 2 DC) in next CH (at base of first (SC, CH 3, 2 DC), SK next 3 CH, SC in next CH (at base of next SC)); repeat from across and turn. Work rows two and three of the first half until the piece measures about 30 inches or the same as first half. Once you end with row three, you will have completed the second half.
-
8
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for the edging on the second half.
-
9
Join your yarn with a SL ST in a corner. Work along the long edge of the shawl to start your side edging.
-
10
SC evenly spaced along the long edge, then fasten off. Repeat along the opposite long edge to finish your side edging. Using your yarn needle, weave in the ends.
