1
Make sure the dryer is plugged in if the appliance won't start. Ensure that the appropriate circuit breakers are switched on. (Electric dryers generally use two circuit breakers, LG notes.)
-
2
Check the circuit breakers, too, if the dryer runs but does not heat. Also make certain that the gas supply is not cut off or blocked, if yours is a gas dryer.
-
-
3
Clean out the lint filter if your clothes come out of the dryer with lint on them. Don't mix lint-producing items, like towels, in with materials that attract lint, like satin. Dry in smaller loads to reduce the amount of lint produced.
-
4
Sort your loads if it is taking too long for them to dry. Separate heavyweight items from lighter weight ones and try drying heavyweight items into smaller loads. Check that the dryer setting is appropriate to the items being dried and make sure the lint filter is clear before you dry clothes. Check the exhaust duct is not blocked and that the outside dampers are able to move freely.
-
5
Reduce the drying time if your clothes are coming out wrinkled, a symptom of over-drying. Remove the materials promptly when the dryer cycle finishes.
-
6
Double-check that you are following the manufacturer's recommendations for washing and drying your clothes if you find they are shrinking.
