How to Mute Windows

The Windows operating system has a built-in volume control that you can use to control the master volume for the operating system. If you want to manipulate the Windows volume without using the controls on your speaker, you can use this control panel instead.

Instructions

      Go to the system tray on your computer and click on the small up arrow to the far left of the system tray icons.

      Click "Customize."

      Click "Turn system icons on or off," then change the "Volume" icon status to "On" if it is currently set to "Off."

      Click "OK," go back to the system tray and click on the Sound icon.

      Click on the speaker icon to mute your Windows sound. Click this button again to turn the sound back on.
