Instructions

    • 1

Lay a piece of dark brown construction paper on a flat surface. Roll the paper up so that it resembles a cone. Use tape to secure the cone shape.

    • 2

Trace a cup around a piece of light brown construction paper and cut it out. Draw a small circle on the top of the cut out circle and color it in with black marker, creating a nose. Use the marker to draw a smile just below the nose. Glue the construction paper circle to the lower portion, just above the opening, of the cone-shaped hat.

    • 3

Cut two medium-sized semi-circles from light brown construction paper. Use a black marker to draw a small semi-circle inside each of the cut-out semi-circles; the opening of the drawn semi-circles should be facing the flat edge of the cut out semi-circles.

    • 4

Make a small fold on the flat edge of each of the construction paper semi-circles. Apply glue to the bottom of the folded edges. Attach the glued edges of the shapes to each of the sides of the hat, creating ears for the monkey.

    • 5

Cut a 3-by-8-inch rectangular strip of light brown construction paper. Roll the strip of construction paper around a pencil and remove, giving the paper a curled effect.

    • 6

Make a small fold in one of the edges of the curled rectangle. Apply glue to the bottom of the folded edge. Attach the curled rectangle to the back of the hat, creating the look of a tail.

    • 7

Glue two googly eyes to the front of the hat, just above the mouth.

    • 8

Punch a hold in either side of the bottom of the hat.

    • 9

Cut two 8-inch lengths of yarn. Thread a piece of yarn through each hole. Tie a small knot in the end of each piece of yarn to prevent it from falling through the hole. Place the hat on your head and tie the yarn under your chin to hold it in place.
