The "Airbrush" tool can remove skin blemishes in digital images.

Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program created by Adobe Systems Incorporated. "CS5" is the 2010 version of the Photoshop series and was released in April of that year. Photoshop offers a variety of image and graphic editing tools, including one known as "Airbrush."

Adobe Photoshop's Airbrush tool allows you to enhance images by removing blemishes. This is the same technique used by professionals for magazine images.

Airbrushing in Photoshop is also useful for blending portions of images and graphics together or blurring lines of demarcation.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the image you'd like to airbrush using Photoshop CS5. Click the "Image" tab and select "Mode." Select "RGB Color" and "8 Bits/Channel."

    • 2

Create a new image layer by clicking the background layer and dragging it to the "Create New Layers" icon at the bottom of the "Layers" panel. The new layer will automatically be named "Background copy" and will be the layer you use for your airbrushing.

    • 3

Click the "Filter" tab and select "Surface Blur" from the "Blur" option. Type "8" for "Radius" and "16" for "Threshold" in the "Surface Blur" dialogue menu and click "OK."

    • 4

Click the "Filter" menu and choose "Hide All" from the "Layer Mask" option. This hides the change you made in Step 3 so you can airbrush the image in whatever spots you choose.

    • 5

Select the Brush Tool from the "Tools" menu. Press the "D" button on your keyboard to choose your default foreground and background colors. Set the brush pixel size to "35." Click "Enable Airbrush" from the Brush palette. Click anywhere on the image to apply the Brush tool.
