How to Make Miniature Tailor Dummies
A miniature tailor dummy, also known as a miniature dress form, is used to adorn shelves, curio cabinets and miniature houses. The miniature form is decorated with such items as floral designs, polka dots, geometric shapes, fringe and bling. Make a tailor dummy from air dry clay, which is ready for painting and displaying in 48 hours.

1
Measure and cut a piece of 16-gauge wire 18 inches long. Make a 2-inch circle on one end of the wire and a 1 1/2-inch circle on the other. It will look like a metal bubble wand with a handle when complete.
-
2
Bend the wire just above the 2-inch circle so it is parallel with the wire between the two circles. Bend the straight wire 1-inch from the edge of the circle at a 90-degree angle to create the miniature tailor dummy stand.
-
-
3
Squeeze the 1 1/2-inch circle to form an oval.
-
4
Create a 2-inch-wide cylinder of clay 6 inches tall. Stand the cylinder on one end. Form the neck of the miniature tailor dummy in the top of the clay. The neck is approximately 3/4 inches wide and extends past the top of the dummy 1/2 inch.
-
5
Press, smooth and manipulate the clay in front of the neck at a 70-degree angle to form the shoulders, chest and arms.
-
6
Place your index fingers and middle fingers from both hands around the waist of the dummy. Roll the clay between your fingers to form the curve of the waist.
-
7
Press, smooth and manipulate the bottom of the clay form to create the hips.
-
8
Place the miniature dress form on its back. Insert the oval-shaped wire on the dress stand in the center of the clay beneath the hips until it is completely covered.
-
9
Allow the clay to air dry 48 hours.
