How to Code Craigslist Templates
A quick search engine request for Craigslist templates yields hundreds of results. Some are free, others are paid, but you can make your own Craigslist templates using just a few basic HTML tags. Save your template as a plain text file then copy and paste it to Craigslist when you create your ad. To include images in your template, upload them to a free image hosting site before you start your template.

1
Upload any template images to a free image hosting site. Make sure your image host allows "hot-linking" or direct linking to the image. Some free hosts that allow hot-linking are ImageShack, Tinypic, PhotoBucket, Webshots and ImageBam. Follow the upload instructions at the website, and make note of the link to your image.

2
Open a new document in Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac). Don't use Word or other word processing programs because they add extra code when you copy and paste into Craigslist.

3
Use HTML tags to create your template. A full list of supported tags is available at Craigslist's "HTML in Craigslist Postings." For example, use tags from the list to create different sized headlines, or to add tables, lists, links, horizontal lines and text formatting. Use the "img src" tag to link to the external image you uploaded previously.

4
Save the document as HTML. Notepad and TextEdit both offer this option in the drop-down menu when you go to "File," then "Save as...."
-
5
Preview the template. Open a Web browser, and go to "File," then "Open" and select the HTML file you just saved. Make changes to the template in Notepad or TextEdit if needed.
-
6
Select all the code from Notepad or TextEdit, and paste it into the Craigslist ad field any time you create a new ad. Make any additions or changes to personalize your ad, then upload.
