How to Troubleshoot Veritas
Veritas Software Corporation, founded in 1983, are the developers of NetBackup, a popular backup utility. In 2005 the company merged with Symantec but continued to specialize in storage management software. Troubleshooting Veritas can be a complex task, and depending on the issue, should only be performed by qualified individuals. There is, however, a simple routine for troubleshooting basic disc operations.
Instructions
-
-
1
Use the command "# vxdg list" to determine if the disk is online or offline. If the disk is offline, unmount it with the "# umount" command.
-
2
Use the command "# vxdg deport" to deport the disk, then re-import it with the "# vxdg import" command. If the deport/re-import of the disk fails, stop troubleshooting and contact a system admin to repair critical drivers.
-
-
3
Use the "# vxprint --thg" command to confirm that the status of the imported disk is disabled. If it is disabled, use "# vxvol --g startall" to enable the disk.
-
4
Type "# vxdg list" to confirm the disk is online, and "# fsck -F vxfs -o full" to run fsck on the disk.
-
5
Remount the filesystem with the "# mount --a" command.
-
6
Use the "# vxdisk -o alldgs list" command to show all disk usage on the host.
