How to Tether With the Storm

A USB cable is included with the Storm.

When you tether your Storm smartphone, you take advantage of the phone's ability to act as a modem. If you do not have Internet access or are away from home, the phone can provide a connection similar to or faster than traditional dial-up. The speed at which your phone connects is based on several factors, including your provider's network coverage. You can use the BlackBerry Desktop Software program to tether with the Storm.

Instructions

1. Download BlackBerry Desktop Software from the Blackberry.com website. Installation begins once the download completes. Follow the prompts to install the program.

2. Connect your Storm smartphone to the computer with a USB cable. Launch BlackBerry Desktop Software from the desktop.

3. Click "Tools" on the program's home screen, then click "Mobile Internet Settings."

4. Click the "Profile" drop-down list and select your mobile service carrier. The settings for tethering the Storm will auto-populate. Click "OK" to save the settings.

5. Click "Tools," then click "Start Mobile Internet." Click "Connect" and wait for the phone to establish an Internet connection on your computer.
