How to Troubleshoot a Dell Genesis Monitor

Dell Genesis monitors are included with certain model Dell desktop computers and workstations. Dell Genesis models offer midrange features when compared with other monitors of its class. You may need to purchase a new monitor to use with your system if the Genesis monitor is not operating properly. Before purchase, you can follow a few easy troubleshooting steps to determine if the problem is with the monitor or the computer.

1. Verify that the monitor receives power. When you push the power button, one or more lights should be displayed on the monitor.

2. Double-check the connection between the computer and the Dell monitor. In some cases, the VGA cable may have come loose.

3. Connect the monitor to a different computer temporarily to determine if the problem is with the original computer.

4. Replace the VGA cable with a new one. Occasionally cables may go bad.
