How to Cut the Thin Skin on My Thin Skin Wig
Thin skin wigs use a coating of polyurethane to create a pliable, swim cap-like base for the wig. Manufactures use thin skin with or without a traditional lace front to create the best fit and the most natural hairline. Thin skin wigs can be trimmed with scissors or a utility knife to match your natural hairline. Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- Ponytail holder or hair clip
- Marker
- Wig form
- Utility knife
- Nail polish remover

Prepare your hair as you normally would to wear the wig.

Place the wig on your head, and adjust it until you are satisfied with the position of the hairline. To create the most natural look, the hairline of the wig should match your own hairline as much as possible.

Gather the hair in a loose ponytail or clip to expose the thin skin rim all the way around the wig.

Use a marker to draw a line along the thin skin near your hairline all the way around the wig. Thin skin should be nearly invisible at the hairline in the front but can be left longer around the back and sides for security and comfort.

Remove the wig, and place it on a wig form.

Cut the thin skin along the guideline with scissors or a utility knife.

Try on the wig again.

Mark any areas that are still too long for comfort, and trim again.

Remove any marker stains with nail polish remover.

Tips & Warnings
If you are afraid of removing too much, draw the line slightly away from your hairline. You can always trim more off later, but you can't add thin skin back.
