How to Troubleshoot the Screen on a TI-84
The TI-84 uses an LCD screen with no backlight. If you can't see the screen, you need to adjust the contrast. Also, as the batteries weaken, the screen gets dimmer. When you can't see the screen even when the contrast is set to the highest level, it's time to change the batteries. The TI-84 has 40 levels of contrast. The current level of contrast is shown by a number in the top right of the screen as you change the setting.

Tap the up arrow button to increase the contrast and make the screen darker.

If you lower the contrast too much, the screen might go blank. Increase the contrast to see the screen.
