How to Make Helmet Cheek Pads Smaller
The size of the cheek pads dramatically affect the fit of a motorcycle helmet, determining just how snugly the helmet adheres to the head of the wearer. Cheek pads that are too small often cause the helmet to fit loosely and move around on the wearer's head and face during high speed riding, while cheek pads that are too large cause extra tight and uncomfortable fittings. If you have picked up a used motorcycle helmet that features cheek pads that are just too large to give you a comfortable fit, you have two options: replace them or have them adjusted.
Instructions

Adjusting Cheekpads
-
1
Take the motorcycle helmet into a motorcycle shop or upholstery shop. This option is only available if the cheek pads are filled with a material that can be partially removed.
-
2
Have the shop open up the cheek pads and remove some of the stuffing that fills them. Make sure not to remove too much of the stuffing so that the helmet becomes too loose on the face.
-
-
3
When re-sewing or closing up the cheek pads, make sure that the stuffing is evenly distributed to avoid any lumps or unevenness.
Replace Cheekpads
-
4
Bring the helmet into a motorcycle supply shop that has a large selection of helmets and other riding accessories.
-
5
Have your head sized by the staff to determine the proper size of helmet cheek pads that you will require.
-
6
Purchase the new cheek pads and let the staff install them correctly in your motorcycle helmet.
-
7
Check the new helmet fit to make sure it is both snug, with little to no movement, as well as comfortable and won't cause irritation on long rides.
