DIY Broiling Pans
Broiling brings the seared flavor of grilling inside. Both use a high heat close to the food and a dry cooking method, and like grill grates, broiling pans have of a slotted rack to drain away grease. The bottom half of a broiling pan catches the juices from the rack, keeping them from falling to the bottom of the oven. Making your own broiling pan requires pairing two items that are probably already in your kitchen. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Aluminum foil
- Jelly roll pan or shallow baking pan
- Metal cooling rack
- Cooking spray

Line the bottom of a jelly roll pan or shallow baking pan with aluminum foil to catch dripping grease and make cleanup easier.

Place the feet of a metal cooling rack inside the baking pan.

Roll up aluminum foil into tubes and stuff between the feet of the metal cooling rack and the side of the baking pan to wedge the cooling rack firmly in place and keep it from sliding as you pull it in and out of the oven.

Spray the cooling rack with cooking spray to keep food from sticking to it.

Cook the exterior of foods under high, direct heat under the broiler of your oven using the homemade broiling pan.
