The curved ends of celery create the look of cow hoofprints.

Whether you're teaching children about cows, or you're a fan of these barnyard animals yourself, consider creating hoof artwork that resembles cow hoof prints as an unexpected work of cow-themed art. If you're creating this project with children, compare cow hoofprints to the footprints other animals make, or frame the finished product and display it on a wall for a whimsical country-themed decorative accent for your home. A common vegetable serves as a stamp for a cow hoof art project.

Instructions

    • 1

Cover your work surface with newspaper to protect it from any drips of paint.

    • 2

Place a piece of construction paper or card stock on top of the newspaper. Choose a color of paper that suits your preference.

    • 3

Fill a shallow bowl with tempera paint. Set the bowl next to the construction paper or card stock.

    • 4

Dip the curved end of a celery stalk into the bowl of tempera paint. Press the stalk onto the piece of construction paper or card stock. The inner curve of the stalk should face inward, creating a "C."

    • 5

Rotate the celery stalk and press it next to the first imprint, creating a backward "C." The two curves together will mimic the look of a cow's hoof.

    • 6

Repeat Steps 4 and 5, creating a line of hoofprint images along the sheet of paper.

    • 7

Create another line of hoofprints alongside the first, following the same procedure in Steps 4 and 5. This will make it look as if a cow has walked along the paper.
