How to Make a Domain Active on GoDaddy
When starting a website, the first thing you need to do is come up with an address, or domain name, for the site. To do so, however, you must purchase a domain name from a provider such as GoDaddy. Activating a GoDaddy domain takes several steps. But by working methodically, you can make your website's domain active.

1
Open your Internet browser, and go to godaddy.com. Once the page opens, select "Domains" from the menu at the top of the screen by clicking on it.
-
2
Enter the name of your desired domain in the box labeled "Start Your Domain Search Here," and click "Go."

3
If your domain is available, you will be led to a page with purchasing options. If it is not, you will be led back to the previous screen and will have to come up with an alternate domain name, searching to see if it is available.
-
4
Check the box next to the domain name you wish to register. If you want to add more than one, select the boxes and click "Add," then "Continue to Registration."
-
5
Register your domain on the page GoDaddy leads you to. Fill out basic information about yourself such as your contact information. Select options for the length of domain registration and optional add-ons such as email service. When you have filled out the information, click "Next."
-
6
Submit your credit card information on the following screen, and hit "Submit." When your payment is cleared, you will be led to the final screen, having activated your GoDaddy domain.
