Instructions

  1. Power to the Unit

    • 1

Pull the dryer out from against the wall. Check the power cable to make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet in your laundry room. If the power cable is not plugged into the outlet, plug it in.

    • 2

Go to the electrical panel on the back of the dryer. This is the point where the electrical cable terminals are connected to the dryer. Make sure the electrical terminals are connected to the panel properly. Unplug the cable and tighten the connections on the panel if needed.

    • 3

Check the pins on the end of the power cable. If the pins are bent or broken, replace the cable immediately. Broken pins can lead to electrical fires or shorting out your unit.

    Vent Hose

    • 4

Pull the dryer out from the wall and check the vent hose. The vent hose comes out of the exhaust port on the back of the dryer. The vent hose should be straight. If it's kinked, the air will not come out and your clothing will not dry.

    • 5

Use your fingers to remove the retaining clip holding the vent hose to the back of the dryer's exhaust port. Pull the vent hose off of the exhaust port. Check the vent hose for debris.

    • 6

Make sure the vent hose is all the way down in the floor or wall vent in your home. This is the port where the air comes out of the hose and outside the home.

    • 7

Reconnect the vent hose to the dryer and replace the retaining clip to keep it in place on the exhaust port.

    Changing the Heating Element

    • 8

Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet. Press the "Start" button on the control console to discharge any remaining electricity from the unit.

    • 9

Go to the back of the dryer and remove the four screws holding the unit casing to the back of the dryer. Remove the unit casing to expose the dryer drum and the inner components.

    • 10

Locate the heating element on the right side of the unit's inner compartment. This will have several heating coils and two wires coming out of it. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw keeping the heating element in place.

    • 11

Use a pair of pliers to remove the wire nuts from the heating element. Put the wire nuts onto your new heating element and then secure it in the housing.

    • 12

Replace the back cover of the unit casing and the screws holding it onto the unit. Plug the unit back into the wall and start it to test out the new heating element.
