How to Troubleshoot Signal on an SGH-T459 Gravity

A weak signal on your Samsung Gravity cell phone is often due to a blocked cell signal in your current location, which reduces your phone's ability to connect to the cell network and have clear phone reception. Alternatively, a poor signal can also be due to a lack of a nearby tower and causes your cell to switch to roaming mode to find a stable network. While the phone automatically connects to the nearest network, you can also manually connect to a specific network in your area. Roaming charges may apply when you are not within your cell's range and should be used sparingly to avoid a high phone bill.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove your phone from its case if it in a phone-carrying case, as this can block the phone's antenna from connecting to the nearby cell signal.

    • 2

Change your location. Your current location may have interference from other electronics, which can prevent the phone from achieving a strong signal.

    • 3

Push "Menu" on the phone and select "Settings," "Call Settings," "Network Selection" and tap "OK." Click "Search Now" to manually have your cell phone scan for nearby networks, and press "OK." Highlight the network in the discovered network list and push "OK" to connect to the network.

Update your software. An update can correct problems with the current version of your cell phone firmware, and is available directly through your phone's settings. Push "Menu" and select "Settings" and "Software Update." Tap "OK" to install the software if one is available.
